Cupro Fabric
Cupro is a biodegradable textile fiber. It is made from the short cottonseed fibers that cannot be processed into cotton yarn and would therefore end up as waste. The Japanese company Asahi Kasei has developed a process to produce a viscose-like knit fabric from this waste product. While this was long only possible with the environmentally harmful use of copper and ammonia, Asahi Kasei can now produce the fiber in a more environmentally friendly way and holds, among other things, the Global Recycling Standard certification. Our Italian supplier processes the fibers from Japan into a fabric characterized by a silky yet warm feel.
