5 simple tips for a more sustainable wardrobe
A sustainable wardrobe doesn't have to be perfect overnight—but every step counts. Here are 5 tips to help you enjoy fashion more consciously:
1. Buy less, but better
Invest in pieces you truly love and wear often. Quality pays off – and it's good for the climate, too.
2. Read and question labels
Look for certifications like GOTS, Fairtrade, or PETA-Approved Vegan. And question claims like "sustainable" or "green"—greenwashing is unfortunately widespread. Or support smaller, local brands that may not be able to afford these certifications but have a strong regional connection.
3. Wash properly = wear longer
Wash at low temperatures, use environmentally friendly detergents, and air out clothes instead of throwing them straight into the washing machine.
4. Repair instead of throwing away
A loose button or a small tear? No reason to throw it away. Repair it yourself or ask friends or relatives if anyone has mending skills? Surely someone will :)
5. Secondhand & Swaps
Not everything has to be new: swap parties, second-hand shops, or platforms like Ricardo are great alternatives.
